I actually really like Attack on Titan but it gives me nightmares every time I watch or read the manga. The titans are so uncanny and the subplot about how the titans originated is extremely grotesque. I couldn't eat meat ever again after watching the anime.

I think my favorite anime movie that I've watched in the past two years is Eve no Jikan. It's sort of slice of life and there is no violence.

Some space-travel based anime:

• Cowboy Beebop (obviously)
• Vanguard (good story, good characters, but also very cool space battles)
